Mrs. Griffith was born May 16, 1936 in Morristown, New Jersey, to the late Rodney D. Skellenger and Mildred Jacklitsch Skellenger. She was a graduate of Morristown High School and Patterson General Hospital School of Nursing in Patterson, New Jersey. She and her husband raised their family in Mine Hill, New Jersey, and then retired to the Golden Isles 29 years ago.
Jane is predeceased by her dearly loved husband, Edward P. Griffith, to whom she was married for 51 years; and by her son, Rodney F. Griffith; her bother Rodney D. Skellenger, Jr.; and her sister, Lois Skellenger Bryson.
Mrs. Griffith is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Griffith Bohl and husband, Roger Clifford Bohl of Brunswick; her son Richard Edward Griffith and wife Jody Davey Griffith of Falmouth, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Clifford Bohl, Allyn Griffith, Victoria Griffith Smith, and Daniel Griffith; and 5 great-grandchildren, Rudy Bohl, Holly Bohl, Timothy Smith, Emma Jane Smith, and Melody Griffith.
Jane enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, quilting, knitting and needlepoint, but was passionate about Bible study. She taught many adult Bible study classes at Bethlehem Church, Randolph, New Jersey, and at both Jekyll Baptist Chapel, Jekyll Island, and First Baptist Church, Brunswick. She was a faithful volunteer, working in several capacities, at MAP International, Brunswick, as well as at Manna House also in Brunswick. She loved adventures and traveled across the United States as well as to Germany, the Netherlands, Alaska, the Caribbean, Greece, Thailand, Peru, Mexico, England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
A memorial gathering will be planned for a later date.
