Mr Jan "Mac" Ray McDaniel

Jan Ray McDaniel, 85, entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 14, 2021. A native of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, he had been a resident of Glynn County since 1981. Born the 1st of March 1936, Jan was the eldest son of the late Lawrence G. McDaniel and the late Willie Mae McDaniel. Jan attended Baxley High School and attended San Bernardino Junior College located in San Bernardino, CA for two years.

Mr. McDaniel was a Vietnam Veteran, who proudly served 21 ½ years in the United States Air Force before retiring in 1975. Jan worked making general repairs to residential homes until he moved to Brunswick, GA in 1981. He worked for Sizemore Security as an armed security officer at Babcock & Wilcox until he accepted a positions with Reese Contract Service in 1982. Mr. McDaniel retired in 2007 from Reese Contract Service, after working at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers as an armed security officer for 24 years.

Survivors include his wife Gale E. McDaniel who spent 42 years with Jan. His son Kevin L. McDaniel (Angel) of Ft. Walton Beach, FL. His daughters Gena M. Taylor (Jeff) of Dothan, Alabama; Kelly S. Burnett (Charlie) of Brunswick, GA and Laura L. Grantham (Marvin) of Brunswick, GA. His seven grandchildren Lisa M. Thornton (Allen) of Eclectic, AL; Shaunean M. Burnett of Chattanooga, TN; Damian R. McDaniel of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Alexia McDaniel of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Wendle L. Grantham of Americus, GA; Grayson S. Grantham of Brunswick, GA and Annalyse K. McQueen (John) of Brunswick; and twelve great grandchildren. His brother Larry G. McDaniel of Brunswick, GA and his sister Linda G. Blount of Brunswick and many nieces and nephews. Jan leaves many friends, but especially his “Brother of other Mother” Randy Nazzrie, who proceeded Jan in death.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, the 26th of March 2021 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, with military honors presented by the United States Air Force.
