Jack was happily married to his wife, Sherry, for 56 years and is reunited with her now. He was a family man and known to countless people as Papa Jack. He was a Southern gentlemen. He had a quick wit, was slow to anger, and had a calming smile. He loved the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Braves, and even the Falcons. Jack loved his sweets and found peace in his media room in the home he built with Sherry. He was a nationally recognized golf instructor, but his knowledge went far beyond the game. Jack was a captivating storyteller and believed in continuous learning. He shared his wisdom in golf and life with his family, friends, and students.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sherry and his father and mother, Quinton and Mary Lumpkin along with his brother, Jimmy Lumpkin. His is survived by his loving children Jay Lumpkin, Sandy and Mike LaBauve, and Susie and Eric Smith. He will be forever cherished by his grandchildren, Chaney and Ryan Pope, Carley Lee, Lindy LaBauve, Bucky Smith, Kristi LaBauve, Caiti Lumpkin, and his great-grandchildren, Reagan and Miles Pope.
Jack's family will welcome friends on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 10AM at St. Simons United Methodist Church. A service will follow the visitation in the main sanctuary of the church at 11AM.
