Ish Osta was born on February 11, 1974, in Macon, Georgia. His surviving family include his mother, Jean Anne “Jan” Osta; sister, Johayna Osta; brother, Omar Nabil Osta; nephew, Braxton Salim Osta; niece, Jada Jackson; uncles Ned Smith (Lynne); Mohamad Samih Al Osta (Marie Helene); aunts Salma Al Osta; Osima Al Osta Pharoun; and cousins in the United States, France, and Syria. He is preceded in death by his father, Salim Moutaz Osta.
Ish started his collegiate career in Florida. Then he trained as a firefighter, paramedic, and on to PA school in Savannah Georgia. He graduated with a Bachelor Degree of Physician Assistant. After graduation, he worked in several practices and ER in Georgia.
He then joined his father’s practice of Oncology/Hematology. When his father’s practice closed in 2014, Ish opened his own practice called House Calls of Coastal Georgia. It was his passion to treat people in their own homes, or assisted living facilities. He felt he could understand them and treat them better in their own homes. He cared for those who could not or had difficulty going to a doctor’s office. Sadly, that practice closed in 2023 when his supervising physician, his father, Dr Salim Osta passed.
After his medical career, Ish enjoyed traveling Georgia and Florida to buy and sell old antiques. His traveling companion was his faithful dog (16 year old shit tzu) MaeMae. His favorite sports teams were the Atlanta Braves, Jaguars and newly the Las Vegas Raiders. He loved traveling, going to the beach with MaeMae and hanging out with his friends. He will be missed.
A Memorial service is scheduled for 2pm, Saturday, April 12 at Edo Miller.
Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, www.edomillerandsons.com, is in charge of the arrangements.
