Irma Jean Davis, 90, of Brunswick, Ga., entered peacefully into eternal rest on August 14th, 2017 at Hospice of the Golden Isles. Irma was born March 10th, 1927 to Agrippa and Ollie Hinson of Lake Helen, Fl. She met and eventually married Earl “Shorty” Davis on Oct 1, 1942. She moved to Brunswick with her family in 1961.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 11 siblings, her husband Earl and a son, Harold Earl “Butchie” Davis. She is survived by 5 children. Barbara Knight (Don), Donna Hord (Preston “Sonny”), Sue Lemmond (Ken), Peter “Sonny” Davis (Pam) and Patti Owens. These children blessed her with 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Velva Hinson McQuaig Allen of Waycross, Ga., two sister-in-laws, Elizabeth Hinson of Brunswick and Betty Nichols Hinson-Jackson of Tallahassee, Fl as well as several nieces and nephews.
Irma enjoyed cooking and flower gardening as well as spending time with family and friends. Some may remember her days at the Georgian Lodge and Payless Foods owned by J.H. Dykes.
The family will receive friends during the hours of 10 – 11am on August 17 at Edo Miller Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 11am in the chapel with Dr. John Harris and Ken Lemmond officiating. Interment will follow at Palmetto Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Irma's grandsons Don Knight, Jr, Michael Knight, Kenneth Lemmond III, Sean Lemmond, Richard Owens, Jason Owens and Timothy James Davis.
