Harold was a native of Shelby, North Carolina and was a graduate of Shelby High School. He attended Lees-McRae Junior College in Banner Elk NC then Gardner Webb University where he obtained his undergraduate degree. He went on to obtain a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of West Georgia. Harold retired as a Program Specialist with the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Brunswick. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge while living in Shelby and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brunswick. In his spare time, Harold loved to fish.
His parents, Harold Franklin Arledge, Sr., and Wanda McCarter Arledge, a son, Eric Paul Arledge and a brother, David Carter Arledge preceded him in death.
Harold is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sherry Bell Arledge of Brunswick; a son, Aaron Arledge (Anglia) of Monroe, GA; three grandchildren, Amelia Arledge and Eric Arledge of Monroe and Avery Luchessi of Newnan, GA; a sister, Susan Bridges (Frank) of Weddington, NC; a sister-in-law, Faye Arledge of Hendersonville, NC; a niece, Katherine Maness (Nathan) and three nephews, Zack Bridges (Jennifer), Isaac Arledge (Lauren) and Nathan (Molly) Arledge.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 16th from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Brunswick, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm.
