Gloria Durden Mitchell

Gloria Durden Mitchell of Saint Simons Island died peacefully on January 6, 2016. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Christ Church Frederica, St. Simons Island, Georgia with The Reverend Becky Rowell officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00PM at Stillmore Cemetery, Stillmore, Georgia.

She had been a resident of Saint Simons Island for many years. She was a member of Christ Church Frederica and served on the Alter Guild for several years. She was a member of the Brunswick Hospital Auxiliary, Daughters of The American Revolution Fort Frederica Chapter, Cassina Garden Club, and Shoreline Ballroom Dance Club.

She is survived by three sons, Ben T. Franklin, Jr. of Stillmore, GA, Stephen G. Franklin (Elaine) of Atlanta, and David F. Franklin (Janis) of Marietta, eight grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, January 8, 2015 from 4PM until 6 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of The Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525, or Christ Church Frederica, 6329 Frederica Road, St. Simons Island, GA 31522, or the charity of your choice.
