A celebration of life will be conducted Friday, August 20th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Pastor Larry Stricklin will be officiating.
Gloria was born January 27, 1943 in Thompson Town, Pennsylvania to the late Paul Elroy and Lulu Irene S. Daughenbaugh. Gloria studied at Akron University and Ohio University. In 1963 she became a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines and flew all over the world. Gloria was based in Charlotte, Miami, and Atlanta. Gloria moved to Townsend, Georgia in 1985 and became a member of Morgan's Chapel United Methodist Church. She volunteered to assist with the toddlers for Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Dorcas Society and enjoyed making blankets for hospitals, and overseas underprivileged areas in Africa. She worked for the Glynn County Sheriff's Department for 5 years. She also volunteered for HART Animal Rescue Group.
Gloria was an avid reader, loved all animals, including her 21 chickens, “The Rockettes”; each one had a name!! She also enjoyed traveling to her favorite destinations, Israel, Japan, England, Germany, Switzerland, and South America. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lee Ammerman, and a sister Nila Geiger.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Lynn Jones, Kimberly Ann Allen and husband Farrell, and a son, Kenneth Lee Ammerman, Jr. all of Townsend. She also had seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
