George Howard Wilson, 84, of Brunswick, GA passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015. Mr. Wilson was born October 6, 1931 in Brunswick, GA to the late Arthur Wilson and the late Anna Wilson. A lifelong resident of Glynn County, he was a graduate of Glynn Academy. Mr. Wilson enlisted in the United States Navy in 1951, serving on the USS McNair and he was honorably discharged in 1955.
Mr. Wilson was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was self-employed by Wilson Marina, a family owned business that had been passed down for many years. While in the business he enjoyed working on gasoline and diesel engines. After retirement Mr. Wilson enjoyed one of his most favorite hobbies which was woodworking and spending time on the water. He leaves behind many fond memories to be cherished by his friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his brother John Wilson and his sisters Josephine Ekblad, Peggy Wilson, and Mary Osborne.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his dear friend and companion Marion Michels of Brunswick, GA; and three nephews Howard Osborne, Bill Osborne, and Allyn Ekblad.
A funeral service will be held Friday, November 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Don Spires officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Gary Turner, Howard Osborne, Bill Osborne, Allyn Ekblad, Mike Culver and Elton Yawn.
