

Mr. McIntosh was born on September 15, 1922 in McIntosh County, the son of David Proudfoot McIntosh and Clifford Matilda Ryals. He lived in McIntosh County all of his life, thus making him the oldest surviving member of the original McIntosh family.
During World War II, he entered the United States Army where he served in the 35th Infantry, 737th Tank Battalion from December 1942 to January 1946. In December 1946, he married Monette Orr from Reidsville, GA. They were married for 53 years. She preceded him in death on September 19, 1999, as well as his parents and siblings.
He worked at Babcock and Wilcox as a boilermaker in Brunswick from 1950 to 1979 when he retired at age 57. He loved working in the yard, especially with his fruit trees. He was a member of the South Newport Baptist Church, where he had been a member for a number of years.
Survivors are his children, Brenda M. Rogers and her husband Harry of South Newport, Ronald McIntosh of Savannah and Belle Bluff, and Cindy McIntosh of South Newport, grandchildren, Melanie Cabiness and her husband Flay, of Brunswick, Jennifer Patterson and her husband Robin of Enoree, SC, Jason McIntosh and his wife, Christina of Savannah, his great grandchildren, Kelsey Ann and Cab Cabiness, Maggie Patterson and Emma and Ansley McIntosh, also included is a special friend Mollie Jane Rowe of Jones, GA.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 O’Clock Sunday, 01/15/12 in the South Newport Baptist Church with Rev. David Riddle and Rev. Eric Grissino officiating. Interment will follow in McIntosh Family Cemetery in South Newport with Military Honors.
Active pallbearers will be Marion Hawthorne, Dennis Goodrich, Ben Townsend, Glenn Townsend, D. L. McIntosh and Patrick Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the South Newport Baptist Church.
Mr. McIntosh will be taken to his residence on Saturday afternoon and the family will receive friends at his home from 6 to 8 PM. The family request those wishing may make contributions to the South Newport Baptist Church, South Newport, GA.
