Hello, June, and the Whole Family ....
Fred Leafloor from Canada here.  George was very important to me as a very dear and special friend, and always a 'Big Brother'.  We met in Newfoundland in the early 1980s, both ex-military divers – me (Flower) from the RCN and Gator from the USN.  We worked in the emergency response and offshore rescue field 'on the Rock' and put our common histories to work to build and enhance a professional life saving organization – George from  inside the company, and me from the outside as a demanding client representative!  Together we conducted offshore transfer and rescue research, and George invented a new type of personnel transfer basket for use on offshore oil rigs.  George was VERY proud of his family and didn't stop sharing his children's life advances and professional successes.  George and I never lost contact.  Deirdre and I made two trips from the frozen north to share a bit of life with George and June.  One of my joys was to celebrate my 58th birthday in Florida and Georgia with my three favourite people:  Deirdre, June, and George.  My Friend was a good man – a strong man – and I shall miss him on this Earth.

I remember when I first met George; we did not know about each other as children, and it was fortunate that he searched for and located us, part of his father's family, when he found himself here in Jacksonville in the mid-1960s. George and I hit it off right away, and always stayed in touch,  especially after he moved to the Jacksonville area. He was a good person and, like the rest of the men in the Hill family, enjoyed talking - about the many amazing adventures in his life, his children's successes, and his plans for the future. He was a proud father and loved his children a great deal.  He will be greatly missed by his wife, his family, and his friends. He seemed to have a positive attitude about life, in spite of what others might see as adversities. I know he's at peace now, and with God.
