Born in Savannah and a graduate of Statesboro High School, he called Shellman Bluff home for the last few decades. For the past 21 years, he ran the Shellman Fish Camp, and to many was the Face of Shellman Bluff. A man with a great heart, smile and kind words for everyone.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, and his sons Jack Iler(Emily) of Darien and Josh Iler of Shellman Bluff; his parents Sands and Dorothy Iler of Shellman Bluff; his brothers Ron Iler and Glenn Iler of Shellman Bluff; his sister Gwen Chester(Adrian) of Statesboro; his twin sister Sandra Dobbins(Donald) of Statesboro; his grandchildren Nathan, Christopher, Laura, Sarah, and Josh Jr, his nieces and nephew and many other relatives.
Visitation will be held at Shellman Bluff Baptist Church, where he was a member, on April 12, 2014 from 11:00-11:45 AM followed by a short service with Rev. Eric Grissino officiating. A private burial will follow the service. The pallbearers are Jerry Turner as Honorary Pallbearer, Lee McCurdy, Phillip Waters, Dennis Dowdy, Brandon Parker, Bill Mercer, and Jim Cooler.
