Gary Marshall Poppell

He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Poppell; his loving children, Michele and Garret Poppell; ex-daughter in-law, Lacey Rewis; grandchildren, Ryleigh Townsend, Kolby Townsend, and Abel Poppell; his mother, Ruth Poppell; siblings Deborah and (Bruce) Williams, Roy "Bubba" Poppell Jr., Jennifer and (Robert) Griffin, Wyatt and (Cathy) Poppell. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Poppell Sr.

Gary was an avid commercial crabber for over 30 years. He was known to be a devoted husband, amazing father/grandfather, and a beacon of light to the rest of the family. Gary was a hardworking man who always made sure to provide for his family, and a kind hearted person who made sure to put the needs of others before his own. Gary was an avid lover of fishing, camping with family, and a true Georgia Bulldogs fan. Known for his low country boils and get-togethers, Gary will be remembered for his big heart, loving smile, and never being short of a joke or an “I gotcha”.

Everyone who remembers him is asked to celebrate Gary's life in their own way. Raising a glass of their favorite drink in his memory would be most appropriate. A private family 'Celebration of Life' will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles Inc. at 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.
