Felix Monroe Felton, 78, of Darien, departed on January 13, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. The family will receive visitors at Edo Miller Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 16 at 11:00am; the service will follow in the chapel at 12:30 p.m..Interment will take place at Palmetto Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Chris Brown , Ronnie Barnhill, Stevie Anderson , Grayson Barnhill , Gabriel Barnhill, and Andy Smotzer . Honorary pallbearers are the United States Marshall Service , United States Secret Service , Dr. William Grubb , Clarence Nordan, John Recknor, Roger Felton and Donnie Nelson .
Mr. Felton was born in Gulfport, Mississippi to the late Harlan B. and Bessie Rae Felton. He was a veteran of the US Airforce. Mr. Felton had a distinguished law enforcement career of 52 years. He was a Metropolitan Police Officer in Washington, D.C., and then an agent of the Secret Service Uniformed Division, where he served at the White House under Presidents Johnson through Carter. He then retired from the US Secret Service during President Reagan’s term during which time he was a Firearms Instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco/Brunswick Georgia. He continued his government service with the United States Marshall Service as a Training Technician at FLETC until 2010. He was a lifetime fraternal member of the Masons of Anacostia Lodge 21 in Washington, D. C..
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Watson Felton of Rutledge, Tennessee and his dearest Uncle Floyd Lee Pierce of Long Beach, Mississippi.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Miller Felton of Darien, his children, Mark (Chrissy) Felton of St. Simons Island, Kelly (Chris) Brown of Brunswick, and Kimberly (Ronnie) Barnhill of Wilmington Island, Stephen Anderson, and Evie Vaughn both of Brunswick, a sister Gertrude Louise (Donnie) Nelson, a brother Roger Felton both of Gulfport, an Aunt Helen C Pierce of Long Beach, a brother-in-law Lloyd Miller and ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
