Eugenia R. Smith

Mrs. Smith was born in Atlanta, and moved to Brunswick as an infant. She graduated from Glynn Academy and attended Tift College where she was President of the Freshman and Sophomore Classes. She was an owner of The Willetta Hotel, H & H Service Store, LaVerne's Dress Shop, and S & S Realty

A lifelong Baptist, Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brunswick, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, a GA Leader, and served on many Church Committees. She was a Past President of the Junior Women's Club, PTA's, and served as a volunteer for the Red Cross and the United Way. She was a Trustee of Mercer University where she and her husband established the Roy and Eugenia Smith Trust to provide scholarships for incoming students.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Roy L Smith.

She is survived by Sandra (Bill) Brunson of Brunswick, Sherry Kilgore of Fayetteville, Ga., and Cindy (Dan) Stover of Jacksonville, Fla; eight grandchildren , Trey (Elizabeth) Brunson, Laurie (Kirk) Watson, Jenny (Paul) Thompson, Krissy (Addison) Meriwether, Katie Kilgore, Chelsea Kilgore, Danny Stover, and David Stover; and eleven great-grandchildren

A memorial service will be held in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Brunswick at 11AM on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, with Rev Thomas E. McMillan and Rev Jim Crandall officiating. The service will be followed by a reception in Beach Hall in celebration of Mrs. Smith's life.
