

Enid Adela Hawkins Stone, 102, of Brunswick, departed this life on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Hospice of The Golden Isles. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm on Saturday, January14, 2023, at Christ Church, Frederica Cemetery with Father DeWayne Cope officiating.
Enid, who had an adventurous and courageous spirit, grew up in Bluefields, Nicaragua and went on to live in Colon, Panama, Harlem, New York, Lakeview, Long Island, Springfield Gardens, Queens, Augusta, and Brunswick Georgia.
In 1979 Enid and Herman Stone relocated to Brunswick Georgia where she served beside her late husband who was appointed the 9th rector of St. Athanasius Episcopal Church and Vicar of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Pennick, Georgia. Enid worked in ministry with her husband until his death in 1994.
Enid and Herman met during World War II while Herman, a US Navy submariner, was stationed at Coco Solo Navy Base in the Panama Canal Zone near Colon, Panama. Enid was living in Colon working with her eldest sister sewing uniforms for US servicemen when she met her future husband. The union would last for 49 years before his passing in 1994.
Enid is survived by four children, Edward Hawkins of Miami, Sylvia Marie Sullivan of St. Simons Island, Herman Printy Stone II (Shanti) of Savannah, and Victoria Louise Green (Frazier) of Brunswick. Enid had nine grandchildren; Ginger Daiker, Daniel Sullivan III, Sanjay Stone, Rajiv Stone, Arvind Stone, Maverick Green, Michael Green, Megan Green, and Marcus Green, four great grandchildren, Daniel Sullivan IV, Brighton Kleiber, Priya Stone, Samaya Stone; nieces and nephews including Tula Lacy, Byron Hawkins, Carmen Walston, George Hawkins, and many other family members and friends too numerous to mention.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gift of Love, Inc. This ministry was formed after the sudden death of Enid’s sister Lucille Hawkins.
