Edna Thomas

Edna “Dee Dee” Thomas, 101, of Brunswick, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at her residence. A grave side service will be held at Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery Friday June 15, 2012 at 2:30 pm with Rev, Dawn Mayes officiating.

Mrs. Thomas was born on May 22, 1911 to the late John Sawyer, Sr. and Piercie Shaw. She went to college for four years to become a nurse in the United States Navy and was employed by the Selective Service Draft Board. She was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Brunswick and loved her flowers in the garden.

In addition to Mrs. Thomas parents she is preceded in death by her husband: Robert L. Thomas, Sr., and her brother John William Sawyer III.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her son: Robert L. Thomas III of Jacksonville, FL; four sisters: Christine Ferguson, Susie M. Cade, Anna Laura Kibhey all of Birmingham,AL and Carol McClaughlin of Stone Mountain, GA; she is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
