Dorothy Rogers, 87, of Darien, died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Sears Manor Nursing Home in Brunswick. Graveside rites will be held at 11AM Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Whispering Pines Cemetery in Darien, with Rev. Raymond Jacobs officiating. Kenny Williams, Steve Jessup, Joel Williams, John Cox, Bill Rozier, and Jimmy Evans will serve as pallbearers.
Born April 17, 1924 in Brantley County Georgia to the late John and Janie M. Jacobs, she was a homemaker, and a member of Darien First Baptist Church. Mrs. Rogers was an avid reader and gardener, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a former member of Order of Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hobson G. Rogers, four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Richard Bolin of Townsend, Hammond Bolin and wife Jean of Darien, step sons, Larry Rogers, of Hazelhurst, James Rogers, of Brunswick, and Andy Rogers of Darien, four grandchildren, Richard Bolin, Jr., Tina Bolin Jones, William E. Bolin, Sr., and Charles Rogers, five great grandchildren, Amanda Pruett, Robert Evans, Rachel Bolin, William E. Bolin II, and Jacob Bolin.
