Donald Gene Thompson

Donny, as he preferred to be called, was born in Madisonville, KY on February 6, 1936. He was the second child born to Milton H. Thompson and Mary Helen Thompson.

In the summer of 1946, the family moved to Brunswick, GA. Donny attended Fourth St. School, Prep High and later graduated from Glynn Academy. After his graduation, he began his career working with his father at Atlas Sign Company. He continued to work and eventually owned Atlas Sign until 2006.

Donny married Doris Mae Lane in August of 1993. The both enjoyed going to the beach and photography. Doris passed away in January of 2005.

In addition to his wife, Doris, his older brother, Hubert Thompson and his younger brothers, Robert Carol and Ralph Douglas Thompson preceded him in death.

His sister, Elizabeth “Bettie” Faulk (John) resides in Fredericksburg, VA.

A graveside service will be held for Donny at Palmetto Cemetery on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 2:00 pm.
