Dolly Wood Smith, 89, of Brunswick, GA passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Sears Manor. A native of Coffee County, Georgia, Mrs. Smith had been a resident of Glynn County most of her life. Mrs. Smith was born June 4, 1926 to the late Simon Wood and the late Leola McDaniel. She was employed with Sea Pak from where she retired after 20 years of service. Mrs. Smith was a member of Pine Haven Baptist Church. She was also an avid walker.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husbands Joseph M. Turner and James T. Smith; her brothers Shelton Wood and Simon Wood, JR; her four sisters Shella Mae Batten, Nell Corbitt, Geraldine Spiva, and Emma Gay Dupree.
Survivors include her daughter Judy Yeomans and husband Rick of Brunswick, GA; son Joseph Turner, SR and wife Joyce of Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren Joseph Turner, JR, Robert S. Turner both of Jacksonville, FL, John D. Turner of Ft. Mill, SC, Brian Yeomans of Herndon, VA, David Yeomans and Scott Yeomans both of Brunswick, GA; nine great grandchildren Cody Turner, Dixie Turner, Harley M. Turner all of Jacksonville, FL, Claire Turner of Ft. Mill, SC, Sabbrina Yeomans, Aimee Yeomans, Lillian Yeomans, Madison Yeomans and Michael Ridgeway all of Brunswick, GA; sister Maeola Dawson and husband Will of Hazlehurst, Gal and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Sammy Chancey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Brian Yeomans, David Yeomans, Scott Yeomans , Robert Turner, Boyce Dawson, and Terry Jewell, Sr.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of Sears Manor.
