Mrs. Franklin was born in San Francisco, California and has been a resident of Brunswick for 40 years. She is a graduate of Armstrong Atlantic State University, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies, and she worked as a division chief at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), Office of State and Local (OSL), until her retirement in 2012. She was an extremely determined individual who always made her goals a reality and inspired many others to do the same. She loved spending her free time by the pool with her husband, shooting pool, caring for her cat, and looking after her granddaughters who knew her as ‘Niecey’. She is preceded in death by her mother, the late Joyce Bogart O’Hagan.
She is survived by her husband Michael Franklin of Brunswick, GA; her daughter Lauren Sobala (Christopher) of Brunswick, GA; her father John Holland of Casa Grande, AZ; her sister Dianne Holland of Mukilteo, WA; and her two granddaughters, Sofia Rose and Scarlett Belle Sobala.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 14, 2015 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 1121 Union Street, Brunswick, GA, with Father Jim Holloway officiating.
