David Decater Jackson, age 85, of Brunswick, Georgia, peacefully entered into his heavenly home on Saturday, November 5, 2022. He was born on September 29, 1937 in Monroe, GA to the late Nellie Ruth Jackson and the late Stephen Decater Jackson. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Ann Pennington.
David served honorably for twenty years in the US Navy and later retired from Hercules as a boiler attendant after twenty two years of employment. He was an active member for fifty plus years at Sterling Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon. David loved gardening and making anything with his hands. He could even sew which was one craft his mother taught him how to do. He loved his Lord and also loved his family.
Surviving family members to cherish David's memories are his loving wife, Mary Jackson; son, Skipper Lamar Jackson; two sisters, Jeanie Jackson Chester and Beth Jackson Clathworthy; a brother, Johnny Jackson; also several grandchildren, Jonathan Pennington (Brittany), Lizzy Pennington (Dillion), Victoria Pennington, and Victor Pennington (Dani); several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
The visitation will be held between 10:00 - 11:00 am Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Sterling Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am following the visitation with Pastor Rick Williams officiating. The burial will follow the service in Palmetto Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Pennington, Victor Pennington, Brandon Walker, Clay Guest, John Pennington, Dillon Thomas, Kelly Bear and Bubba Bear.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for memorial contributions made to Sterling Baptist Church in the memory of David Decater Jackson.
