David Alan Hust was born on November 30, 1965 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He passed away on August 23, 2023 in Darien, Georgia. After graduating from Gore High School in 1983, he joined the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division, and served in Operation Desert Storm. Later in his 22-year military career he was a special ops candidate and retired as a decorated recruiting officer. After his retirement and several odd jobs, David founded and operated Mad Shark Charters, a popular fishing charter service based in Darien. He also invested in real estate and owned several rental properties.
David is survived by his mother, Phyllis Hust of Sallisaw OK; brothers Adam Hust of Darien GA and Philip Blackwood of Mount Vernon IL; sisters Gloria Burgess (Dewayne), Georgia Berton (Chris) of Sallisaw OK, and Diane Fitzsimmons (Philip) of Weatherford OK; children Katharine Rule, Heather Hust and Ryan Hust of Georgia; girlfriend Dara Kincade of Darien, GA; bonus brother David Cash of Muskogee OK; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Ben Hust who died in April 2023 and birth dad, Don Blackwood who died in October 2021.
In addition to fishing, David loved to attend mud fests and concerts and had reservations to attend his first Cherokee National Holiday in Tahlequah, OK Labor Day Weekend 2023.
To honor David's wishes, his body was cremated and will be buried at Fort Gibson National Cemetery at a later date. There will be no public memorial service, viewing or visitation.
