Dara was known by many family nick names including Daya, Lucy, and Mibs. She was loved by many, had the biggest heart, and would help anyone in need. Dara loved and cared for many people and was always happy. She especially loved her four children - they were her life! She loved to take them to the park and play with them. Dara also loved to shop. Her favorite places were Walmart and Target where she would shop for hours. She enjoyed listening to all kinds of music, but her favorite was BTS and the Backstreet Boys. Dara’s father shared a special memory in which Dara drank half a wine cooler then began to cry because the Backstreet Boys band was breaking up! Dara loved to joke around and make funny faces. She always had inside jokes and special moments and she had a way of always making people laugh. Dara will live forever in her family and friends memories due to the unconditional love she showed to everyone. She had a good soul, just like her Uncle Jimmy, and will never be forgotten. Dara’s four children have the same sweet, loving heart, so we know she will live on through them.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Walter Smith, Sr. and Virginia Smith; Uncles, James Smith and Kim Henderson; Aunt, Debbie Henderson and her great-grandparents, Clayton and Lilly Griner.
Dara is survived by her four children, Natalie, Brandon, Isabel, and Tristan; her father Walter Smith, Jr; her mother Terri Strean Gaylor; three siblings, Derek, Karen, and Tyler; maternal grandparents, Bob and Lynda Strean; nieces, Kristian and Alexis; nephew, Wayne; Uncles, Darren, Scott and Kevin Strean, Aunt Patricia Daniels; and many cousins, other family and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 3:00 pm in the funeral home Chapel with Dr. Andrew King officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Palmetto Cemetery.
“You gotta find humor, or at least try to in life. Life is messed up and unfair, but you gotta enjoy things as much as possible while not taking people and things for granted." -Dara Smith
