Dear Gabi, I am saddened by the passing of Jack, I am so sorry to hear about it. It has often been said that upon meeting someone for 15 minutes it will leave an impression on you for a life time. Jack did that very well, and we all love him for that. Jack had all the charm of Rhett Butler, and then some. He is surly missed by me, as Jack and I had a special relationship ... I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Jack.  I have so many fond memories of the gang back in Augsburg, and the fun that we had with Sunday dinners, the clubs, and hanging out at the golf course .  Gaby, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Hi Gaby..  Heard the news about Jack as traveling back from US. Sorry about the loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you. I found a old photo of the Augsburg crew and thought I would share it.

Expect Jack is teaching George to play crossword puzzles again. He loved to play them for sure.

Judy and I were shocked to learn of your passing upon our return yesterday from a vacation in South Africa.  I recall with affection our first meeting some nine years ago when I, as a Canadian Mason spending twelve weeks each winter on St. Simonds Island, contacted you about attending Golden Isles Lodge of which you were then Master.  You and the other members warmly welcomed me and I have spent many happy hours in their company since that first meeting.  I particularly remember you inviting me to accompany members of the lodge in delivering comfort food and other items donated by the lodge to Fort Stewart for transmit on to American soldiers in Afghanistan - I enjoyed meeting several soldiers recovering from their wounds, especially since our own Canadian boys and girls were also facing similar circumstances over there at that time.

I am going to miss our e-mail correspondence, Jack.

Jack was the type of friend who turned boring weekends into something special because he could always find time for friends, a last minute trip to the beach,  and had such a unique personality that always created a laugh.  I treasure those memories and the times as adults while we served in the US Army in Germany.  My deepest condolences to you Gabby and Emily Kay.   Rest, now,  my friend, you are in a much better place and I will see you again.

Jack, or "Hansl", and I met many years ago during his military career on Sheridan Kaserne in Augsburg, Germany.  Jack was friends with not just me but with my parents as well, and we stayed in touch throughout the years.  Love and prayers for Gabi, know I am here for you.  Jack, you will be missed so very much.  Rest in Peace, dear friend.
