Mr. Battles was born on the 8th of January,1950 in Popular Bluff, MO. He was preceded in death by his step-son, Scott Reynolds, his father, Connie Battles and his step-father, Guy Julian.
Dan studied at Southwest Missouri State College, graduated from Cahokia High School. He joined the Army and served in Viet Nam as an air traffic controller for almost 3 years and was also a scuba instructor trainer in Corpus Christi, TX. Dan served as Commander of the American Legion Post 166 on St. Simons Island. He was a lighting and sound tech at Wesley UMC church and for weddings where he loved his church family very much. Another labor of love was Dan's part time work for Seafarers. Dan truly loved life and his many friends.
Dan is survived by his wife, Brenda Reynolds Battles of St. Simons Island, GA, his mother, Clara Julian, his sister, Jeannie Evans(Wayne), and his daughter, Annie Bundy of Deland, Fl., Keith Battles (Amy), of Rogersville, MO., Scott Battles (Shira), of Seal Rock, Or., and Matthew Battles of St. Louis, MO. Also surviving are his step daughter, Valerie Sandow (Shawn) and his step daughter, Angie Reynolds. His memory is cherished by twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Wesley at Wesley United Methodist Church on St. Simons at 2:00pm on September, 4, 2021.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Wesley UMC, American Legion Post on St. Simons 166 or International Seafarers in Brunswick.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home and Oglethorpe Crematorium in Brunswick, GA.
