Daire Smith

Mary ‘Daire’ Smith, age 70, of Brunswick, passed away after her battle with cancer on November 19th, 2023. Daire was a wonderful wife, daughter, sister, mother, and nana who left lasting memories with all she loved. Her strong will and quick wit will be missed.

Daire and Ken celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on November 5th. The two enjoyed a happy life together gardening, playing cards, bowling, and taking care of their Pomeranians. They had two daughters, Kristie Cody and Allison Tindall, and 5 grandchildren.

Daire graduated from Glynn Academy in 1971. She loved to travel and spent time in Texas and Arizona before returning to Brunswick to be with family. She enjoyed spending time with her twin Claire, and sisters Mollie, Kathy, and Lisa. Their bond was strong and she was loved and supported all of her life. Daire was an avid reader, cross-stitcher, and hummingbird watcher.

She is survived by her husband, Ken Smith; her daughters, Kristie (Shane) Cody and Allison (Sean) Tindall; her grandchildren, Jessica (Lance) Cronan, Kayla Smith, Travis Tindall, Ashleigh Tindall, and Chase Cody; and her sisters, Claire (Wayne) Thompson, Mollie (Dickie) Whisenant, Kathy (Henry) Allen, and Lisa (Tony) Mishoe. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Louise Scoggins and Maurice Scoggins; her brothers, Tony, Barry, and Gary; her niece, Jessica Thompson; and nephew, Scott Underwood.

Daire’s memorial service will take place on Saturday, November 25th at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home from 1pm to 3pm.
