Charles was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Winder (Barrow County). He graduated from Winder Barrow High School in 1969 and subsequently from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy in the spring of 1974. While a student there he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant Senior ROTC. He moved to Glynn County, Georgia in 1975 where he accepted a position as Staff Pharmacist with Stutts Drug Company. In 1980 he purchased the 54 year old pharmacy, City Drug Store, in downtown Brunswick, retiring in 2014. Charles was a Founding Member of Wesley United Methodist Church at Frederica, St. Simons Island where he served as Treasurer. He was a member of the Sea Island Golf Club, Brunswick Rotary Club, Georgia Pharmacy Association and the Golden Isles Soccer Association.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Acree Lott, son Judson R. Lott his wife, Ginny Fulghum Lott and Granddaughter, Ellis Marguerite Lott of Hilliard, Florida. Also surviving him are his sister, Carolyn Lott Florence and her husband Neal of La Fayette, his brother Kenneth Lester Lott and wife, Linda of Oakwood, Georgia, cousins Bobby and Kathy Hobgood of Toccoa, Georgia and several niece and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Dr. Charles L. and Lucille Montgomery Lott.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to caregivers, LaToria Brown, Calvin Johnson, Thad Axtel, and Michael Holmes and Heartland Hospice nurses. Also thank you to Dr. Mitchell Jones and his Staff of Southeast Georgia Physician Associates, Cardiology and the staff of Edo Miller and Sons.
A private family service with burial in City of Toccoa Cemetery will follow in summer with Acree Davis Mortuary in charge of arrangements for Charles Robert Lott. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests making contributions to the Stephens County Historical Society, Toccoa, Georgia for the C-47 project.
