Carol Jane Vandersall, 77, of St. Simons Island, GA went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2015 at St. Simons United Methodist Church , 624 Ocean Blvd., St. Simons Island, GA., with Pastor Marcia Cochran officiating,
Mrs. Vandersall was a native of Fairview Park, Ohio, and had been a resident of St. Simons Island, GA, the past 29 years. She was born April 7, 1938 to the late Clayton Daniel Collins, and the late Cora Jane Bratt Collins. Mrs. Vandersall is a graduate of Fairview Park High School, receiving her BA Degree in English from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. She received her teaching certificate in elementary education from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.
She is a member of the St. Simons United Methodist Church,
past president of the UMW, and member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Mrs. Vandersall enjoyed singing in the church choir, bowling, birdwatching, cooking and spending time with her family. She will be most remembered for her infectious smile and her generous nature.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years David Vandersall of St. Simons Island, GA; her five children Alison Nairn ( Campbell ) of Athens, GA; Clayton Vandersall of Bedford, Indiana; Laura Layde ( Garrett ) of Kennesaw, GA; Karen Perrin ( George ) of Gainesville, FL, and Kevin Vandersall ( Jennifer ) of Livermore, CA; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and five nieces and nephews.
