Carey Leer Brock departed from this world on March 10, 2024 at the age of 84. He was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Carey was born on December 23,1939 in Nashville, TN to Robert Oscar Brock, Sr. and Evelyn Guthrie Brock. He grew up in Nashville and throughout his life had interests in golf, fishing, reading, bird watching, photography, astronomy, traveling and genealogy. Carey was a proud 1958 graduate from Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, TN. He always kept in close contact with his classmates and looked forward to various reunions. After high school he attended The University of Tennessee at Nashville. Carey made his career as a commercial electrical contractor and a master electrician.
Carey was known for his witty personality, sentimental values and great conversation. He was a deep thinker, but liked to find the humor in almost any given situation and had a kind and compassionate soul. He touched the lives of many through his acts of kindness and stunning smile.
Carey was an active member of his church, Saint Simons United Methodist in Saint Simons Island, GA. Carey maintained his Memphis, TN membership as a free and accepted mason as a member in good standing in Desoto No. 299. He was also an Al Chymia Shriner. Carey was a member of the national society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Carey is survived by his three daughters Melissa Brock Mitchener (Tim) of San Antonio, TX, Vicki Brock Swor (Rob) of Murfreesboro, TN and Karen Brock Yerbich (Corey) of Nashville, TN and his nine grandchildren-Jonathan and Mark Mitchener, Kelsey and Parker Swor, Taylor, Jackson, Alex, Makenzie and Hudson Yerbich. Carey is also survived by his sister Camille Brock Sewell (Ron) of Damascus, VA, his sister-in-law Diane Brock of Saint Simons Island, GA as well as many nieces and nephews and his companion of 25 years-Jennifer Irion of Saint Simons Island, GA.
Carey is preceded in death by his parents of Nashville, TN and brother Robert Oscar Brock, Jr. of Saint Simons Island, GA.
He will be forever remembered and cherished by his loved ones. Although his physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit and memories will live on in our hearts.
A memorial service to celebrate and honor the life of Carey Leer Brock will be held Friday, May 17, 2024 at Edwin Warner Park Pavilion 10, beginning at 4pm. Family and friends are invited to share memories, stories and celebrate Carey’s wonderful life. Food will be served. Carey’s remains will be cremated and laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park next to his parents and grandparents on Saturday May 18, 2024 at 11am.
