Bruce Harry Wright

Bruce H. Wright, 74, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at Southeast Georgia Health System with his wife by his side. He was born on August 4, 1948, to the late Orville and Marcella (Riel) Wright of Iron Mountain, Michigan. Bruce graduated from Kingsford High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. He married Shirley Light on November 15, 1985. Together they have called Brunswick, Georgia home for the past 31 years.

Throughout his engineering career, Bruce worked for Lake Shore Systems, Inc. and PAR Systems (formerly Jered LLC) in the area of marine defense manufacturing and sales. His hobbies included golf, target shooting, fast cars, and caring for his many furry friends both domesticated and otherwise. Most of all, Bruce enjoyed being in the company of his wife and their cats and looked forward to visits from his family from the North.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Shirley; sons Bruce O. (Christina) Martin-Wright and Christopher (Shayna) Wright of Madison, Wisconsin; grandchildren Seth and Nikolai Martin-Wright and Isadora Wright; sister Marsha Tortelli of Appleton, Wisconsin; nieces Marnie (Eric) Bowen and Kristie Engle of Appleton; and stepson Ronald Dean (Lisa) Bolling, of Goodview, Virginia; as well as other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law James Light and mother-in-law Helen Light.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 12 at Advent Christian Church (1812 Ellis Street, Brunswick) at 2:00 pm. Elder Marihelen Newman will be officiating. A reception with light refreshments will follow.
