Barbara Joan Roth

Barbara Joan Roth, of St. Simons Island, passed away on July 26, 2022, after suffering a stroke. Barb was born May 17, 1945, in Waukegan, Ill., to Myles and Millie Scheribel. Her family moved to Janesville, Wis., when she was a child. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1965 and then went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a degree in education.

While a teenager in Janesville, Barb met the love of her life and they would spend the next 61 years together. She and Bob married in 1966, and they are a rare couple that can say over 60 years together just wasn't long enough. They went on to live in Fort Wayne, Ind., Dayton, Ohio, and St. Simons Island, Ga., where Barb always made great friendships.

During her lifetime, Barb was many things ... tennis player, club champion golfer, business owner, volunteer ... but her true joy came from family. She raised two children whom she loved dearly, but her greatest sense of pride came from her grandchildren. She adored them and they returned those feelings for their beloved Nanny.

Barb will be forever loved and missed by her husband, Robert Roth, St. Simons Island; her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Linda Roth, Dayton, Ohio; her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Troy Augustine, Centerville, Ohio; her grandchildren, Alexandria Roth, Englewood, Ohio, Ben (Miranda) Roth, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jack Augustine and Will Augustine, both of Centerville, Ohio. She also leaves behind her best friend and sister, Jan (Terry) Keele of Janesville, Wis.; and a huge family of nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to long-time friends Dave and Carol Leahy of Brunswick for your support and help during this difficult time.

Barb was a friend to many, and she will be missed beyond measure.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

To honor her and her lifelong love of animals, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Glynn County Animal Services,190 Carl Alexander Way, Brunswick, GA 31525.
