She was born in 1938 in Vidalia, Georgia to Jack Edwin Dawson and Carolyn Butler Dawson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Jeff McClain.
She is survived by her daughter Carol McClain and her husband David Robinson, son Ted McClain and his wife Christine, grandson Ian McClain, granddaughter Kiley McClain, and brothers Jack Dawson, Jr. M.D., and Bill Dawson and his wife Wanda.
Anne grew up in Brunswick, Georgia and graduated from Glynn Academy where she was a proud member of the Pirates of the Spanish Main sorority. She attended the University of Georgia and Mercer University before marriage.
Anne was blessed with a creative vision and drew inspiration from the natural beauty of the Golden Isles. She was a gifted artist whose numerous paintings included seascapes, docksides, still lifes, and portraiture. Anne owned her own shop for a time on Frederica Road where her interior decorating talent was on full display. She enjoyed long walks on the beach and spending time with family.
The family extends its warmest thanks to residents and staff at Vitality Senior Living on St Simons Island for their love, care and attention.
A remembrance service was held at Christ Church Frederica on St Simons Island.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
