Salvador Hernandez

On Thursday, July 4, 2024, Salvador Hernandez, father of three children, and four grandchildren, passed away at age 90. Salvador was born on September 22, 1933 in Brownsville, TX to Rosa Presiado and Salvador Hernandez. When he turned seventeen he served in the U.S Navy in July of 1951 through 1954. He married Delia Alvarado in November of 1951. He was a pipefitter in his youth and later became a letter carrier for twenty eight years, retiring in October of 1992. He and his wife raised two sons, Salvador III and Gilbert, and one daughter, Maria Ilsa.

Salvador had a passion for owning apartments and completing house projects through the years with his beloved wife, Delia at his side. He enjoyed collecting stamps, frequenting the flea market on weekends, word search books in later years; and loved family gatherings, holidays and trips with his eldest son, daughter in law, and grandchildren.. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile and his hardworking attitude.

Salvador was preceded in death by his father, Salvador, his mother, Rosa, and his wife, Delia. He is survived by his three children, his grandchildren Donna Lee H. Flores, Dustin Mylo Hernandez, and Eric and Isaac Garcia and niece Ana Alicia Alvarado.

A memorial service for Salvador will be held on Saturday, Jul 13, 2024 at Buena Vista Del Angel Funeral Home on 125 McDavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX with a chapel service starting at 10 AM. Following the memorial service will be a burial of ashes at 11 AM at Buena Vista Burial Park.

A chapel service will occur Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10:00 AM in Chapel of Angels, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. A burial will occur Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
