To the family of Ruben Garcia, to all of those who he leaves behind, and to Mrs Minnie.

First and foremost, I send my deepest condolences to any of you who knew Ruben and who are his family. I had the pleasure of knowing Ruben throughout my younger years, and to put it in the simplest of words, we played football together. 

Here are the memories I have of my friend, Ruben Garcia.

Growing up, I spent my middle school years back at Cummings Middle School. Due to the fact that my parents both worked there, it was quickly known that I was a teacher's kid. My dad was coaching the 8th grade football team, and Ruben happened to be a part of it. My first interaction with him was in the form of a prank, one which ended with both of us bursting in laughter. He wondered why a 6th grader was hanging around with all the 8th grade football players, and after the mention of my parents, he understood why I was there. He spread the news that I was the coach's son and while I thought it was meant to be a tease, I realized later on it was a warning to the others. That was that no one was to try and pick on me. After that moment, every single player treated me like I was part of the team. He always treated me with respect and care.
Later on, we ended up at Porter High School. And once again, we met one another in the locker room. But this time, we were both members of the same team. For the first time I got to play with those boys I watched on the field. 

As we grew older and went our seperate ways, we were able to run into one another on numerous occasions. This allowed us to have a moment to reminisce and catch up on what we were up to now. He always made sure to ask how my parents were, or let me know that my dad had stopped by Subway and asked for another tuna sub. 

Ruben was kind, funny, and whether he liked to admit it or not, caring. I will always cherish the moments we shared, but at the end of the day to put it simply we played football together. 

Minnie and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my most sincere condolences and prayers. Ruben was a wonderful young man who was devoted to his son. Ruben are terribly miss and loved by many. Rest in the arms of Jesus Christ.

Gosh Ruben, what happened is not fair but we trust that God’s plans are bigger than us. You were so loved and I will never forget seeing you grow into handsome, loving, smart man. I will never forget how mad everyone was when you got your hands tattooed, you just laughed it off. You will be missed. Allie won’t shut it about how cool your Mustang is. We love you and send you a big hug all the way up to heaven. Xoxo 

Rubén, I wish I would’ve taken more photos and shared more moments. You always had a smile on your face and always loving on your grandmother. Allison is always talking about your Mustang and how it’s better than my car and insists that we get one, you made her fall in love with that car. I remember when you got home with your hand tattoo and everyone was so mad at you and you just laughed it off.  I saw you grow into a wonderful man and now you’re in peace. Sending you a big hug all the way up to heaven from me, Candy, Allie and Lucian. Rest in peace handsome. Xxoo 

Ruben we knew you since you were little. When you went to school with our kids. You were a great friend to them and you were a better friend as you grew up.  You were an awesome person who left us too soon.  Heaven is lucky to have an Angel 👼like you and I know you will be watching over your child forever... You are Loved & will be missed. RIP Ruben. 😥

This shouldn’t have happened. And I’m so sad that it did. You were a pretty badass dude and you will be missed. My most sincere condolences to your family Ruben. May you Rest In Peace. 

My condolences to the family.  I know Ruben was very loved by his grandmother who doted on him and helped raise him.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.
