Ray proudly served in the USA/Army, The Brownsville Police Dept. was also honored with his service to the community as a police officer for 25yrs. before he retired in March of 1996.
He is preceded in death by parents , Josefina and Zenon Ortiz; four brothers, Meliton, Zenon, Eligio and Jose Ortiz; three sisters, Guadalupe Gonzalez, Olivia Davila, and Otila Lopez.
Mr. Ortiz is survived by his son, Ramon (Ana) Ortiz Jr.; wife, Elva Ortiz; step-children, Everardo, Lilia, Cynthia and Elva Ortiz; one grandson, Ramon Ortiz III; seven step-granchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 2pm – 9pm & on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 1-9pm with a rosary at 7pm at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
A Funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 10am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 2645 Tulipan with interment to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Ramon Ortiz III, Everardo Ortiz, Rogerio Vega Jr., Robert Ortiz, Ray Garza, and Michael Obregon.
Escort will be provided by The Brownsville Police Dept.
