On Saturday, November 4, 2023, Olivia M. Esparza, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and dear friend fell asleep in death and is now resting peacefully after 95 long, fruitful years. Olivia was born March 9, 1928, in Brownsville, Texas, to Antonio and Eliza Munoz. She was a lifelong resident of Brownsville, Texas and was dearly loved by all fortunate enough to have known her. Foremost and closest to Olivia’s heart were her faith and relationship with her Heavenly Father, her cherished family and her dear friends.
Many know the three words, “LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE”….Olivia lived, laughed and loved her entire life! Olivia LIVED life enthusiastically and filled it with what truly matters! She encouraged those around her to keep life simple, look past all the clutter and recognize what brings true meaning and joy! Olivia LAUGHED often and her laughter came from deep inside her. Those around her soon learned from her example-that a sense of humor and not taking yourself seriously builds relationships that result in lasting, lifelong friendships. And, without a doubt, Olivia LOVED! She loved completely and unconditionally. Those around her appreciated that about her and loved her ever so deeply in return.
Preceding Olivia in death were her parents Antonio and Eliza Munoz, her sisters Hortencia de la Pena, and Guadalupe Cuellar and her brother Antonio Munoz. She was also preceded in death by her eldest daughter Petrita Tamez and her beloved granddaughter KrisAnn Tamez.
Survivors remaining to treasure their loving memories of her are Olivia’s children, Romeo Esparza (Beatrice), Libby Gonzales, Willie Esparza (Belinda), and Liza Lienart (Mike); also Olivia’s twelve grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren along with numerous nephews and nieces, extended family members and dear friends.
