Minerva was the eldest of 10 children. She was her mother’s primary caregiver for over 10 years.
She was the family’s favorite Aunt, first choice baby-sitter and her home was the gathering place for the family for many years.
She learned to cook and sew in Home Economics in High School. Because she enjoyed cooking and baking, she took over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday festivities. She introduced us to Lemon Meringue pie, sand tart cookies and many other desserts. She also cooked the turkey, stuffing and other American Holiday traditions. She started sewing some of the clothes for herself and younger sisters. She loved to read. She also loved to go to the movies and go out to eat either with family or by herself. These were her favorite pastimes. She was a dedicated teacher, quite and good hearted. She would take notice of children in need in her class or in church and would buy them presents. She was a caring and loving person and will be dearly missed.
Minerva is survived by her brother Armando Sanchez, her sisters Gracie Vargas, Elena Sanchez, Stella Hesseling, Leticia Rodriguez, Monica Perez and Jacqueline Chavez.
Minerva was preceded in death by her father Felix Sanchez and mother Ventura Ontiveros Sanchez; her sisters Santitos Sanchez and Zenaida Sanchez.
Minerva Sanchez also leaves behind 8 nieces and 5 nephews to cherish her memory.
