Maria del Carmen Garza of Brownsville, Texas, 72 entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 12, 2023. Carmen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving mother, Guadalupe L. Garza, and her nine brothers and sisters. Carmen was born in Brownsville, Texas on July 16, 1951, to Ramon and Guadalupe Garza.
Carmen was a faithful servant to our Lord and dedicated to reciting her daily prayers and rosary. She prayed for everyone she knew in need as well as herself asking for strength to continue to serve the Lord and share the faith she strongly possessed.
Carmen earned her BA in Education in 1985, she taught special needs children in BISD from 1985 to 2004. She was a teacher who personally understood their struggles, worked diligently to meet their needs, and proudly celebrated their success.
Carmen was an avid Houston Astros fan for many years who watched and cheered for the team during every game and every season. Her hobbies included reading, creating beautiful collages and painting.
Carmen was a loving and caring daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed and profoundly remembered for the happiness and love she shared with everyone she loved and those who were blessed to have her as a friend.
Carmen is preceded in death by her beloved father Ramon M. Garza.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving mother, Guadalupe L. Garza, and her loving siblings; Graciela Saldivar (Frank†), Ramon R. Garza, Jr. (Rosie), Manuel Garza (Esperanza), Carlos M. Garza (Judy), Gloria E. Tamayo, Blanca G. Massad (Luis), Patty Garza, Julie M. Garza, Rosalva G. Larrasquitu (Jaime); twelve nephews and nieces and fourteen great nephews and nieces.

Public visitation in her honor will take place at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista on McDavitt Blvd. of Brownsville on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 3-9 pm with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass to be held at 2:00 pm at St Luke's Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 with Interment to follow at the Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista Mausoleum.
