She was a happy person always taking care of her family, her home, close friends and her garden. She was a devoted Catholic and belonged to the “Vela Perpetua” for many years. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was always making flour tortillas for the grandkids, getting them sweet bread and spoiling them whenever she could. She started making tamales to help make ends meet and she was known as Doña Maria to a lot of people. Everybody loved her tamales and she got a lot of requests. She loved to sing, especially a Mexican song that has a pharse “Mariquita’ la que vive junto al rio, tapame con tu rebozo que ya me muero de frio’. So most recently we started calling her ‘Mariquita’. She was a very loving mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be missed dearly but we know she will no longer be suffering. May our Lord receive her soul and embrace her and take her home. We love you and we will miss you very much.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Dominga Galicia as well as her husband, Marciano Barajas.
She is survived by her son, Zenobio B. (Josefina) Galicia; daughter, Teresa Galicia; grandchildren, Hugo (Blanca) Galicia, Hector (Amanda) Galicia, Laura Galicia (Manuel) Quezada, Andre (Martina) Krieglmeier, John-Paul Guerra and 12 great-grandchildren.
