Manuel Martinez

Mr. Manuel Martinez, age 84, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Brownsville Nursing Center. Manuel was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Manuel faithfully accompanied his mother as a migrant worker for many years and then ultimately retired as a custodian for the Brownsville Independent School District.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia Martinez and his stepchildren, Mauro Caldera, Yolanda C Aguilar, Rosie (Cristian) Lopez, Richard Caldera, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death and has now joined his beloved mother, Benita Martinez, and his sisters, Anastacia Ramirez, Francisca F Gutierrez and Lucia M Espinosa; his brothers, Simon Flores, Lorenzo Flores, Guadalupe Martinez, Jose Flores; also preceded in death by his step daughter, Elizabeth Garcia.

Visitation will begin at noon on Sunday, January 29, 2023 with a rosary at 6:00 pm at the Funeraria del Angel at Buena Vista Funeral Home in Brownsville. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 10:00 a m on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with internment following at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Pallbearers will be: Reynaldo Ramirez, Jr, Steven Nicolas Ramirez, Albert Flores, Cristian Lopez, Luis Martinez, and Leo Buenrostro.
