1941-2015
Our heavenly father held out his hand and took Laura Garza Ruiz with him to heaven. He led her to the angels who surrounded her with their wings and welcomed her to eternity.
The daughter of the late Godofredo and Carlota Garza, Maria Laurentina was born in Brownsville on December 10, 1941. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Valley Regional Medical Center Friday, August 21, 2015.
Laura was a 1961 graduate of Villa Maria High School and she studied at TSC and UTB. She retired from Southwestern Bell and worked a few years with the Drug Enforcement Agency. She spent many happy retirement years with her also retired husband traveling extensively. They took an Alaskan and a Mediterranean cruise and toured Europe. They were always on the go to Las Vegas, Coushatta, Wendover, Maryland, and Denton to visit their grandchildren.
Laura and Noe were members of the Mr. & Mrs. Club and the Alhambras. She played with numerous Bunco groups and won many prizes playing poker She loved being with friends, but her family always came first.
Laura is survived by her husband of 49 years Noe, the love of her life; their children Karlo (Sandra) and Vianey Reinhardt (Kevin); and siblings Rosalva Jump (Michael), Godofredo, Jr. (Gloria), Francisco (Josie), and Carlos (Lucila) Garza.
Those that brought her so much joy and admiration were her eight grandchildren: Karlo and Sandra’s Christian, Erik , Nicholas and Kathryn and Vianey and Kevin’s Justin, Brooke, Grace, and Kelsie. She was with them constantly and marveled at all of their accomplishments.
Laura was beautiful inside and out. She made everyone around her feel comfortable and happy with her kindness and laughter. She was a trooper and handled her husband’s illness and any little obstacle with dignity and acceptance. She was a Bishop Adolph Marks #1988 Catholic Daughter who allowed God to lead her and gave back by helping all those she could. Laura was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church.
Honoring Laura as pallbearers will be Charlie Garza, David Garza, Christian Ruiz, Justin Reinhardt, Kevin Reinhardt, and Ismael (Mike) Ruiz.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 23, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
Mass will be held Monday, August 24, 2015 at 10:00a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (2800 Rockwell Dr.) services to conclude after Mass.
There will be no procession from Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, family and friends will meet at the Church at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August, 24, 2015 for Mass of Resurrection.
