He was preceded in death by his parents, Santos Chavez and Juana Gomez, both residents of San Felipe, Guanajuato.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maria De La Luz Chavez; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Chapa; son, Juan Chavez, Jr.; grandchildren, Jesus, Miguel, Eduardo, Daniel, Kailey, and Adiella; and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 2pm to 9pm on Saturday, February 26, 2011. Visitation will continue from 1pm to 9pm with the Holy Rosary at 7pm on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 1pm on Monday, February 28, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church by Father Jose Torres.
Interment to follow at Buen Vista Burial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be: his son, Juan Chavez, Jr.; grandsons, Jesus Chavez, Miguel A. Chapa, Jr., Eduardo A. Chavez and Daniel Chapa; and son-in-law, Miguel A. Chapa, Sr..
