Jose Elias Espinoza, 96, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 4, 2017 in Brownsville, Texas. Don Elias was a simple man that began working at a very young age to help his family. Don Elias accomplished many great things owning restaurants and jukeboxes which he operated in Matamoros, Tamps. But, most importantly he never denied a meal to anyone whether they could pay or not. Don Elias brought the milanesa to Matamoros in the late forties and ran the successful "Restaurante Nuevo Leon". He also ran "G-G's Drive Inn" on International Blvd. He helped open the "Nuevo León Restaurant" on Adams St. in the late 70's bringing the comida corrida to Brownsville. He culminated his cooking career with the "International Coffee Shop' which still operates and is well known by the locals. Don Elias was known as "El Rey de la Milanesa," but most importantly, he will be mostly remembered for his kindness, humility, honesty, work ethic and compassionate treatment of others. He is preceded in death by his father; Manuel Espinosa, mother; Ma. Caritina Ruiz de Espinoza, brothers; Alejandro Espinosa, Jose (Chepe) Espinosa, Dr. Benjamin Espinosa and sister; Susana Espinosa. Left to cherish his memory is his wife; Blandina S. Espinoza, sons; Victor (Alma) Espinoza, Miguel A. Espinoza, Daniel (Jennifer) Espinoza, daughters; Silvia Espinoza (Nadim) Ahmed, and Cristy Espinoza (+Cory), grandchildren; Jason Hoekema, Sophia Perez, Omar, Yusef and Ali Ahmed, Cristian, Joshua, Yliana and Tania A. Espinoza, sister; Dolores Espinosa (José) Turrubiates and 5 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Daniel Espinoza, Cristian Espinoza, Victor Espinoza, Jason Espinoza, Joshua Espinoza, Miguel A. Espinoza and Francisco Perez. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 10am to 9pm with a Prayer Service at 7pm at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista. Chapel Service will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 2pm followed by a committal service to Buena Vista Burial Park.
