Vivió las primeras dos décadas de su vida en Tampico, Mexico, donde se graduó de preparatoria. En la University of Texas en Austin continuó sus estudios superiores.
Gerardo disfrutaba mucho el clima del Sur de Texas y se sentía muy orgulloso de ser tejano.
En su juventud, en Tampico, su vida revolvía alrededor de sus amigos, la familia, y especialmente el negocio familiar, “Restaurante Pizzas La Scala”. Empresario y conocedor del ramo de Restaurantes estableció su primera sucursal del negocio familiar, “Pitti’s Pizza” en Los Fresnos en el año 2000, donde se esmeraba por ofrecerle a sus clientes la mejor pizza y comida italiana en este rincón del estado de Texas con recetas originales y preparadas por él, guardando celosamente las recetas de familia. Era extremadamente modesto sobre su fantástica habilidad mecánica, podía armar y desarmar automóviles, aires acondicionados, y casi cualquier máquina o aparato que se le pusiera enfrente. Su pasión por los automóviles empezó muy joven y su hobby por armar autos clásicos lo llenó con innumerables horas de placer y orgullo. Su hijo, Luis Gerardo, y su esposa Lidia, tuvieron un padre y esposo, respectivamente, excepcional. Cariñoso, noble e incansable que se dedicó por completo a ellos. Fue conocido por su generosidad, paciencia y buen corazón, siendo más que evidente en la forma en que atendió a su madre durante su larga enfermedad, llenando de admiración a su familia entera. Él tenía gran aprecio y orgullo por sus hermanos Eduardo y Nina, y sobrinos Ty, Tatiana, America y Adriana, a quienes adoraba y quienes le correspondían su afecto completamente.
Le sobreviven su esposa Lidia Uribe, su hijo Luis Gerardo Sánchez, su madre Angelita de los Reyes, su hermana Nina Turkin, su cuñado Scott Turkin y sus sobrinos Ty Turkin y Tatiana Turkin, su hermano Eduardo Sánchez, su cuñada Eneyda Dimas, sus sobrinas América Sánchez y Adriana Sánchez. Su padre, Luis Sánchez Osuna ya fallecido.
El servicio funerario será en Funeraria del Ángel Buena Vista en Brownsville, Tx., el Miércoles 2 de Agosto de 10 a 13 horas.
Gerardo was born on June 8, 1965 in Brownsville, Tx., to Angelita de los Reyes Galvan and Luis Sanchez Osuna. Died July 25, 2023 in Harlingen, Tx.
He spent the first two decades of his life in Tampico, Mexico, where he graduated from high school. Later attended the University of Texas at Austin. Gerardo enjoyed Rio Grand Valley’s warm weather and was very proud to call himself a Texan. His life as a young man in Tampico revolved around his friends, his family, and the family business, “Pizzas La Scala Restaurant”. Entrepreneur and with vast experienced in the food industry, established the first family restaurant branch in Texas, “Pitti’s Pizza”, in Los Fresnos in the year 2000, where he strived to make the best pizza pie and Italian pasta this side of the Rio Grand. With original recipes and entirely homemade by him while fiercely guarding family recipes.
Gerardo who was extremely modest about his phenomenal mechanical ability. He could take apart vehicles, air conditioners, and almost any machine or motor presented to him, and put them back together. His passion for cars started early, and his hobby for rebuilding classic cars gave him innumerable hours of enjoyment. He was a devoted loving father and husband to his son Luis Gerardo and wife Lidia, respectively. He was generous and treated everyone with kindness particularly his mother, tending to her illness with patience and compassion gaining the admiration of his family.
He cherished family and friend relationships. His younger brother, older sister, nephew and nieces were his pride and joy and they loved him back wholeheartedly.
He is survived by his wife Lidia Uribe, his son Luis Gerardo Sanchez, his sister Nina Turkin, his brother-in-law Scott Turkin, his nephew Ty Turkin, his niece Tatiana Turkin, his brother Eduardo Sanchez, his sister-in-law Eneyda Dimas, his nieces America Sanchez and Adriana Sanchez, and his mother Angelita de los Reyes. He was preceded in death by his father Luis Sanchez Osuna.
Funeral Services will be at Funeraria del Ángel Buena Vista in Brownsville on Wednesday, August 2nd from 10am to 1pm.
