Esmeralda was born and raised in Brownsville, TX, she was the oldest of six. She Graduated from Homer Hanna High School class of 1975. She worked in medical insurance billing for 40 years. Married to her husband Sergio Sierra for 45 years. They Lived briefly in Louisiana but returned to their hometown of Brownsville where she resumed her career in medical insurance billing. Esmeralda enjoyed gardening and baking with and for her family. She raised 3 wonderful daughters. She loved reading Gods word and growing her faith in Him. She had fun working on word puzzles. Her daughters loved her for her many sayings; Tootooloo! Te dije dos veces! And countless others. She enjoyed watching her favorite game show “Wheel of fortune” and her oldies TV shows especially Andy Griffith Esmeralda was a very giving person who would never let a birthday or special occasion go by without recognizing it. She is terribly missed by all who knew her. To know her was to love her.
Esmeralda is survived by her husband, Sergio Sierra; her daughter Erica Licea (Hugo); her daughter Cindy Arias (Joe); and her daughter Veronica Garza (Leonel Jr.); her sister Elda U. McDaniel (Jimmie P.), her brother Erasto E. Ureste, her sister Blanca E. Ureste and her sister Elizabeth Rhodes (Trave).
Esmeralda was preceded in death by her father Erasto Ureste † and her mother Enriqueta R. Ureste †; her brother Octavio Ureste †.
She also left 7 grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews to cherish her memory.
A visitation for Esmeralda will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Talk at 7:00 PM in Chapel of Peace at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. A chapel service will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Chapel of Peace at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Followed by a burial at 11:00 AM at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
Serving as pallbearers are Hugo Licea, Joe Arias, Leonel Garza Jr., Samuel R. Alvarez, Erasto Eduardo Ureste Jr. and Jimmie P McDaniel.
Serving as honorary pallbearer is Armando Sierra.
