Enrique was a loving husband and father and had many family members and friends. He was a man of deep faith and prayed daily. A longtime resident of La Marque, TX, Enrique and his wife Maria moved to Brownville in late 2021.
Enrique was born in Mexico, in Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas. He attended university in Tampico, Mexico and moved to Galveston as a young adult, working as a helper at Todd Shipyard. Enrique married his lifetime sweetheart, Maria Partridge, in Hitchcock, TX at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Enrique worked for many years as a painter, wallpaper hanger, and builder in Galveston County. He eventually joined Union Carbide in Texas City as an Operator in the VA-5 unit, where he worked for 23 years until his early retirement in 2001. Enrique and Maria raised their family in La Marque and lived there for over 50 years.
Enrique is preceded in death by his parents, Ramiro Garza and Ma. Isabel Gomez Garza, and his brother Ramiro Garza.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Garza, son Enrique Eugene Garza, daughter Elizabeth Leyva and husband Randy, daughter Elsa Klapperich and husband John; sister Sylvia Garza, brother Fernando Garza and wife Ma. Esther, sister Ma. Isabel Garza, sister Norma Mejia and husband Martin, and sister-in-law Ma. del Jesus Garza; grandchildren Ashley Onojirhe, Courtney Garza, Ricky Garza, Katie Lopez, Charlie Howell, and Sophia Klapperich; six great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins and friends who love him dearly.
Funeral services will be held at the Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 McDavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521, on Saturday April 22, 2023. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm, followed by a Rosary at 7 pm and a memorial service at 7:30 pm.
The family would like to thank the excellent nursing staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center ICU for the compassionate care that Enrique received.
