He is preceded in death by his daughter: Lupita Alaniz, parents: Willfredo and Nieves Alaniz, brothers: Pedro Alaniz, Enrique (Pale) Alaniz and one sister
Damacio is survived by his wife: Josefa C. Alaniz, children: Luis C. Alaniz (Monica), Larry Alaniz (Alejandrina Magallanes), Leonel Alaniz (Linda Hinojosa), Leticia Alonzo (Saul) and 7 grandchildren.
Mr. Alaniz was employed and retired from The Freedom Newspapers, (Brownsville Herald) after 42 years of service.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 5, 2016 from 1pm to 9pm with a rosary at 7pm at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 10am at Our Lady Of Guadalupe followed by burial at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Military Honors will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2035.
