Angel S. Galvan, 89, went to eternal rest Monday, October 8, 2012 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. He was employed by J.C. Penny for 38 years, from where he retired. Mr. Galvan served in the Army Air Force and he was a Veteran of WWII.
Mr. Galvan is preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Guadalupe N. Galvan; parents, Rafael Galvan and Luisa Galvan; son, Jose Angel Galvan; grandson, Marc Anthony Benavidez; brothers, Alejandro, Juan, Porfirio Jose, Amado, Antonio and Abelardo; sisters, Lydia Gonzalez and Guadalupe Gonzalez.
He is survived by his daughters, Angelita Benavidez, Maria Anita (Ruben) Reyna from Houston, Susanna (Raul) Benavidez, Elizabeth Anne (Gloria) from Brownsville, and adopted daughter Gloria de La Llata also of Brownsville; sons, Ismael Galvan from Georgia, Richard Galvan from Houston, and Rafael Galvan, Armando Galvan of Brownsville; sisters, Adela (Rodrigo) Sanchez and Luisa (Ruben) Garcia; brother, Manuel (Lydia) Galvan; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and his loving pets, Ozzy, Daisy and Eva.
Visitation was held on, Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 12:30pm – 10pm with a prayer service at 7pm at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 2pm at New Life Center United Pentecostal Church at 3665 Old Highway 77 with interment to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Galvan, Brian Galvan, Raul Benavides Jr., Christian Guerrero, Michael Reyna and Christopher Benavides; Honorary pallbearers, Ruben Reyna Jr., Austin R. Weber, Justin Weber, Ramiro Benavidez, Frankie L. Garza, Alex Benavides, Andrew Galvan, Benjamin Galvan, Christian D. Galvan, Joseph J. Reyna, Marc, Dominic and Ryan Benavidez.
Full military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 2035 under the command of Commander Lucio.
