Amelia was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. She was a diligent and hardworking employee of Norton Company and later with the Brownsville Community Health Center.She was a loving, caring and dedicated mother to her son. Amelia was also an awesome sister and aunt to her nephews and nieces and always valued the companionship of her family.
Amelia looked forward to festive outings and celebrating holidays with her loved ones. Her favorite holiday was Christmas where she cherished baking, listening to Christmas carols and watching "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
Her biggest passion was high school football. Along with her mother, they could be seen on Friday nights, cheering on their favorite team: The Hanna Golden Eagles. Amelia and her mother followed the Golden Eagles rain or shine. She also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and you would often see her wearing Packers Gear.
Amelia will be remembered as a loving, selfless and nurturing mother that did her best to provide for her son and family. She enjoyed starting conversations with anyone and will be remembered as a great sister, aunt, and mother. She will forever remain in our hearts and minds.
Amelia is survived by her son Robert Garcia, her siblings; Guadalupe Castro, Estela Jaramillo (Eduardo) and Sylvia I. Flores (Ricardo); her nieces and nephews; Joe Castro (Santa), Ricardo Flores Jr., Christopher Castro (Leslie), Kacy Castro, Deejaye Castro, Diana De La Llata (Jesus) and Patricia Flores.
Amelia was preceded in death by her mother; Estela M. Garcia †; her grandparents; Guadalupe Maldonado †, and Josefina Labrada Maldonado †.
A visitation for Amelia will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM in Chapel of Angels at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. A chapel service will occur Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 2:00 PM, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Followed by a burial on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
Serving as pallbearers are Robert Garcia, Ricardo Flores Jr. , Ricardo Flores, Eduardo Jaramillo, Alejandro De La Llata, Guadalupe Castro, Jose Guadalupe Castro and Christopher Castro.
